Hey Everyone! Its officially the end of the semester!

What have I learned in this course? I have gained a deeper insight on connecting the sociological imagination to the digital space and then applying that analysis in a practical sense, specifically when it comes to Python, digital ethnographies, content analysis, etc. The most useful thing I learned from this course is understanding the Twitter API because I would be very interested in potentially using it for my own research. Since I am in my first year of my master’s program, all I have taken are the core classes for the program. I haven’t taken a significant deep dive as of yet towards the digital perspective of sociology. So, this class not only introduced me to more digital research methods that I had little knowledge of, but it also allowed for more conversation around digital sociology. That is why I enjoyed reading everyone’s blog posts each week. They often got me thinking about certain points I didn’t consider. Accessing Twitter’s API and using/learning Python throughout the semester was the first time I experienced any of these. I am really looking forward in the future to becoming more proficient in Python, the Twitter API, and other digital research methods that we have talked about and discussed throughout the semester.

Over the summer, I plan just to relax and take a mental break. I would like to get through a couple of books I have wanted to read but just haven’t had the time to get to. I am also starting a new job in July, so I am really excited about that. I hope to have some fun before that starts. I high key want to go horseback riding. I don’t know why but I have never been, and I think it would be a fun thing to do. Additionally, as if horseback riding wasn’t enough, my younger brother is in the Army, and he is in an Airborne unit, which basically means he has to jump out of planes a few times a month. Somehow, he convinced me to go sky diving with him. It is going to be scary af because that is another thing I have never done before. I guess you only live once *laughing very nervously*. Other than that, I will be tending to my raspberry and blackberry bushes. If you guys were wondering, they are still thriving. Anyways those are a couple of my summer plans. I really enjoyed getting to know everyone over the semester. I hope to see you all in a future class possibly! Stay safe!
