Hi everyone! My name is Sam Beaupre(she/her), and I am from Chesterfield, VA. I am currently in the online Digital Sociology program. My research interests are mainly focused on how the digital space influences the work sphere, specifically differences in teleworking and being physically at work, of course. Also, how social media apps may influence the work environment regarding different groups of people. My programming experience lies solely in statistical programs such as R, SPSS, and SAS, which was attained in my undergrad and my last semesters SOCY 601 research methods course. Something I would like to get out of this course is to broaden my scope of knowledge with other programming mechanisms and to understand the different digital research methods and how they may differ from the traditional ones. I would also like to gain a deeper understanding of how to collect digital data and how that digital data can then be analyzed in a sociological way.
Something interesting about myself is that I have recently taken up a hobby of cooking over the winter break. Not baking, though! I'm only cooking for the moment because my skills have not evolved enough to start trying to bake unless it comes out of a box, lol. I did make a beef wellington inspired off of the one and only Gordon Ramsay himself. I have to say it went quite well! It did take me 8 hours to make it, which I wasn't expecting, but it was delicious! I started this cooking journey over the winter break because I realized my best meal I could make was grilled cheese, and let me say, I make some bomb grilled cheeses, but I ultimately wanted to expand my arsenal of things I could cook, and now I am here. Now that classes have started up again and I have less time on my hands, I may slump back into my habit of making grilled cheeses as most of my dinners for the week because beef wellingtons will not be every day or every week or an every month kind of thing. More like a once a year kind of a meal, lol. If anyone wants to share some cooking ideas that I could potentially make I am so down for that.
